The WCC’s workforce planning tool identified there was a need for a review of Kemp Hospice’s current employer brand to help them to attract new volunteers and set them apart from other Charities.
Project Scope
Limelite was commissioned to undertake the creation of a Volunteer ‘culture book’ which showcases who they are to new volunteers in a fun and visual way in line with their existing branding ready for launch at an upcoming event.
Culture Book
We met with their Head of People to understand their needs and the organisation. We then conducted a review of their website and social media to pick out parts of their existing offer to the highlight in their culture book. We then worked with their team to shape the Handbook to reflect their unique culture in a fun and visual way that aligned with their current employer brand. This ensured volunteers have a seamless journey from initially registering their interest on the website, to then joining the volunteering team.
We designed a 20-page digital “Culture Book” to showcase KEMP Hospice’s identity. It included:
A welcome note from the Chief Executive.
Core values and mission and KEMP’s history.
Volunteer stories and range of volunteer roles available.
The Volunteer agreement and benefits.
Induction/onboarding details and training and resources.
Practical information to support new volunteers on their journey with KEMP.
KEMP Hospice Feedback on Support and Benefits of the Work
Working with the HR consultancy team at Limelite HR was a positive and collaborative experience. Lisa and Helen were warm, professional, and easy to work with throughout. They took time to listen, understand our organisation and culture, and offered thoughtful input as we developed our ideas.
The process helped us reflect on how we present our offer to volunteers and gave us space to shape a resource that communicates what KEMP stands for in a more visual and accessible way. The idea of a Culture Book aligned well with our ambitions to enhance the volunteer experience, and it has provided a useful platform to build on.
The consultancy gave us an opportunity to pause, review, and refocus—something that can be difficult to do internally in a busy organisation. It’s supported us in moving forward with greater clarity and intention around our volunteer communications and experience.

Head of People & Operations
Conclusion
Limelite HR helped to enhance the external perception of KEMP as a fun and happy place to volunteer, by showcasing their mission, vision and values, the range of opportunities available and their offering to volunteers, helping to set them apart from other charities and support them in attracting new volunteers to join them.
