Client Background and Project Scope
Dolphin Computer Access has experienced recent changes in personnel with a recent headcount reduction exercise and existing employees being promoted into management roles. Therefore the senior leadership team wanted to ensure the senior leadership team were coached and equipped with tools to move into the next phase of work force planning. Added to this, there was also an increasing awareness of the previous dynamics of miss management, misaligned priorities, lack of direction and strategic agenda and fear of loss which needed all needed exploring.
Our Approach
Limelite HR worked closely with the Chief Operations Officer to understand the current structure and recent movements in the team to create and facilitate a session designed to equip them with the tools and insights needed to understand their current profile, anticipate future needs, and create a practical, actionable workforce plan aligned with organisational strategy and with a heavy focus on how to manage through these situations but also contingency plan where needed.
The session covered the what, why and how of workforce and contingency planning but was specific to Your Dolphin, using their people and their structure with the aim of providing real life tools to:
• Understand what workforce & capability planning is
• Understand the link between business strategy and workforce planning
• Understand the key steps needed in workforce & capability planning
• Identify gaps in the current performance processes
• Provide tools and documentation to assist with future management of situations
• Provide coaching on individual scenarios
• How to ‘de-risk’ the business and the importance of knowledge transfer
• Prioritise workforce actions (succession, recruitment, development, automation)
The session was interactive and enabled the business leaders to use the tools in a live setting and together we explored many workforce issues.
The tools were developed especially for Your Dolphin and the templates were shared afterwards to enable the business to do further work and build upon what they started.
