Your Management Toolkit

An Institute of Leadership accredited programme for new and middle managers.

Most organisations know their managers matter. Fewer invest in actually developing them and that gap is becoming increasingly costly.

We’re in a genuinely difficult period for people management right now. The talent shortage isn’t going away, AI has made it easier than ever for employees to raise formal grievances and complaints and a wave of new employment legislation means the managers who avoid difficult conversations aren’t just creating tension, they’re creating real legal and business risk.

More policies won’t change that but investing in your managers’ skills, confidence and practical know-how will.

Why this matters right now

The business case for management development

Poor management is still the number one reason people leave their jobs and while that’s not a new insight, what’s changed is the environment around it. A tight labour market makes every resignation more expensive. Rising employee expectations mean poor experiences get noticed and shared and the volume of new employment law changes means gaps in management knowledge carry consequences they didn’t a few years ago.

Gallup research consistently shows that managers account for up to 70% of the variance in employee engagement, which tells you something important: all the culture work, employer branding and wellbeing initiatives in the world will only go so far if the people running your teams aren’t equipped to lead well.

Research shows that investing in management development delivers significant returns through reduced turnover, fewer formal people issues and stronger team performance.

Your Management Toolkit

How Limelite can help

Your Management Toolkit is built from what we see every day: real employee issues, real teams, real managers finding their feet. That’s what makes it practical rather than theoretical.

Places are limited to 10 per cohort, so they go quickly. If you want your managers equipped with the skills, confidence and legal know-how to handle whatever comes their way, this is where to start.

About the programme

Built from real experience

Your Management Toolkit has been developed using our years of experience training, coaching and supporting managers and leaders across a wide range of organisations, combined with our expert HR knowledge from helping resolve real employee issues every day. That combination is what makes this programme different from a generic off-the-shelf course.

You’ll get the exact skills and toolkit your managers need for modern, effective people management, grounded in what actually works in practice and designed to help your organisation achieve its goals. And because we’ve seen first-hand what happens when those skills are missing, every module is built around the real situations your managers face.

What your managers will cover

Each session covers one of the things managers most commonly struggle with.

  1. Managing Starts With You: self-awareness, DiSC profiling and emotional intelligence.
  2. Know the Rules, Avoid the Pitfalls: employment law made simple.
  3. Building a Team People Want to Join: employer branding and organisational design.
  4. Hiring Right and Starting Well: recruitment, induction and getting the first 90 days right.
  5. Looking After Your People: managing absence and wellbeing with care and consistency.
  6. Getting the Best From Your Team: clear expectations and feedback that actually lands.
  7. Growing Together: developing yourself and your team, because great managers never stop growing.
  8. The Conversations You’d Rather Avoid: difficult conversations and the habits that prevent bigger problems.
  9. When Things Go Wrong: disciplinaries and grievances, step by step and done fairly.
  10. Handling Change With Care: restructuring and redundancies, the legal must dos and leading people through it.
  11. Building a Culture That Sticks: what culture really is, your role in it and the small things that make it real.
  12. From Manager to Leader: pulling it all together and stepping into leadership with confidence.

Poor management is still the number one reason people leave a job. More policies won’t fix that. Better managers will.

How it works

Designed to fit around the day job

We know how hard it is to take managers out of the business for extended periods, so we’ve deliberately designed this programme to work around real working life. Each session is two hours, delivered every fortnight, with a small amount of pre and post work between sessions that’s kept light enough to fit comfortably into a busy week without becoming another pressure.

It’s twelve sessions and the fortnightly rhythm means your managers have time to put things into practice between sessions, which is where the real learning happens.

Cohort learning

Learn alongside other local leaders

Each cohort has 10 places and delegates join alongside managers and leaders from other local organisations in Worcestershire and across the UK. We’ve deliberately built the sessions around peer learning and open conversation, because some of the most valuable insights come from hearing how someone in a completely different organisation is dealing with the same challenge you are.

Working alongside people from outside your business gives you a kind of honest, outside perspective that’s hard to get any other way, and that tends to be where the real lightbulb moments happen.

Accreditation

Quality you can trust

Your Management Toolkit is accredited by The Institute of Leadership, the UK’s professional body for management and leadership development, which has assessed our programme as contemporary, engaging and focused on improving practice in the real world. So when you’re investing in your managers’ development, you can be confident you’re investing in something that genuinely delivers.

Every delegate who completes the programme receives letters after their name, a certificate and 12 months membership to the Institute of Leadership, which opens up a huge range of webinars, e-learning and continuous professional development resources they can draw on throughout their career.

  • We recently had the pleasure of working with Limelite HR & Learning for our Leadership and Management training, and the experience was brilliant. The course was well-structured and highly interactive, allowing our managers to engage fully with the material. What impressed us was their extensive knowledge, approachability, and flexibility, which truly made a difference. They took the time to understand our business context, which enriched the learning experience and made the training relevant and applicable. We are grateful for the valuable insights and skills our team has gained, and we look forward to continued collaboration with Limelite in the future.
